The MND: China-US Military Relationship Should Serve as a Cornerstone for Stability in the Overall Relations
11月28日下午，國(guó)防部舉行例行記者會(huì)，國(guó)防部新聞局局長(zhǎng)、國(guó)防部新聞發(fā)言人吳謙大校答記者問。
記者：近日，習(xí)近平主席在秘魯利馬同美國(guó)總統(tǒng)拜登舉行會(huì)晤。在此背景下，請(qǐng)介紹中方對(duì)下一步發(fā)展中美兩軍關(guān)系的看法。
Question: Recently, President Xi Jinping met with US President Joe Biden in Lima, Peru. Against this backdrop, please brief us on China’s views on the future China-US military relationship.
吳謙：習(xí)主席指出，中美合則兩利、斗則俱傷。過去幾年，兩國(guó)兩軍關(guān)系雖然歷經(jīng)跌宕起伏，但也開展了對(duì)話與合作，總體實(shí)現(xiàn)了穩(wěn)定。中美作為世界上兩個(gè)大國(guó)，應(yīng)該計(jì)天下利，多為當(dāng)前動(dòng)蕩不安的世界注入確定性、提供正能量。希望美方同我們相向而行，以積極理性的態(tài)度看待中國(guó)和中國(guó)軍隊(duì)的發(fā)展，把以和為貴、以穩(wěn)為重、以信為本作為兩軍交往的基本遵循，在平等和尊重基礎(chǔ)上，構(gòu)建不沖突不對(duì)抗、開放務(wù)實(shí)合作、逐步積累互信的兩軍關(guān)系，真正當(dāng)好兩國(guó)關(guān)系發(fā)展的穩(wěn)定基石。
Wu Qian: President Xi points out that China and the US will gain from cooperation and lose from confrontation. Despite all the ups and downs in the China-US relations over the past several years, the two militaries maintained some dialogues and cooperation and kept a generally stable relationship. As two major countries in the world, China and the US should bear in mind the greater good, and inject more certainty and positive energy into a turbulent world. We hope the US side can work with us towards a same direction, take a positive and rational view of the growth of China and the Chinese military, and prioritize peace, stability and credibility as the basic principles of mil-mil engagement. On the basis of equality and respect, the two sides should build a mil-to-mil relationship featuring non-conflict and non-confrontation, open and substantive cooperation and gradual accumulation of mutual trust, so as to truly serve as a cornerstone for stability in the overall China-US relations.
